Foodie Friday: Oven Toaster Veggies

A welcome respite from the grease-laden food that is this country's staple. This would probably be yummier if I had an actual grill, but I have to make do with an oven toaster.

I've experimented on a couple of different vegetables - cauliflower, cabbage, zucchini, and even mushrooms (which is not a vegetable but let's not get technical) - but I find that okra and young corn hold up particularly well to the, uh, toasting.

All I do is wash the veggies, pat them dry, spread them out on a metal tray, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with some seasoning (read: cayenne pepper). And then I pop them into a pre-heated oven for about 15-20 minutes until they're all nice and crispy. And then, I drown them in this:

Japanese non-oil Shiso dressing. So good I can actually drink it. I first discovered it in the cafeteria of the mothership office of my previous company, and I've been hooked ever since. Thank you, Cold Storage, for bringing it to Singapore. ^^
