Friday Favorites: Tangle Teezer

Remember untanglers (aka Hair Doctors)? They're these combs with rotating metal teeth that were all the rage way back in high school. They came in different sizes and colors and we were always very careful not to drop them because the teeth wouldn't line up perfectly afterwards. There hasn't been as much excitement over  hair-detangling product since.

Enter the Tangle Teezer.

I believe it's been around for some time now, but it took me a while to get my grubby paws on one. At first glance it appears to be more suitable for dogs than for my head, and depending on which color you get it either looks like a beetle or a jellyfish.

Admittedly I was very pleasantly surprised that this thing actually delivered. I have very fine hair, so I'm very wary of detangling brushes, more so ones that can supposedly be used wet or dry, but I've had very minimal breakage with the Tangle Teezer. No tugging, no pulling, plus bonus points for the added shine when used dry.

I love it so much I actually have two. I got the black one  (I believe it's called the Salon Elite) first during one (tiny) Amazon shopping spree. I was perfectly happy with it except that it's not exactly purse and travel-friendly. And then I saw this inside my friend's beach bag (hello Maymay!):

Reminiscent of the monster plants in Super Mario, yes?

It's called the Compact Styler, and it's a slightly smaller version with a detachable cover to protect the bristles from the horrors that lurk in your bag. Awesome, right? If you're going to get a Tangle Teezer, make it this one - it's travel friendly and there's no noticeable difference between the two, performance-wise.

It's not the cheapest thing out there at around 15 euro a pop, but it just works so well and has outperformed all my other brushes that are just as, if not more, expensive. Definitely worth every penny.
