Birthday Grub

Posted a month late, because of reasons.
Posting anyway, because of more reasons.

Foies gras in a burger. Yes, please.

All I wanted for my birthday was good food and good company. Wish granted. ^^
The boyfriend flew in to celebrate with me and guess what? When I fetched him from the airport I went to the correct terminal (flashback to the baliw-baliwan episode the last time I was there)! It's a sign of good things to come.

I was determined to have steak for my birthday dinner, but it only occurred to me that I have to make reservations the day before. Very smart. Thankfully it's a week day, so I was able to score a table at Les Bouchons. They had me at free-flow fries.

In hindsight, it might have been a mistake to have roasted bone marrow as an appetizer when we're having one huge slab of steak each but it seemed like a good idea. And it was awesome.

To be honest, the steak was nothing to write home about. But man, those fries. Chubby, crispy, and fried in duck fat. There are no words. @.@

During the weekend we just stayed in . The wonderful thing about having the boyfriend here is I no longer have to eat whatever I cook for an entire week because there is someone to finish everything :D

One of the best recipes I've managed to pick up would have to be salted egg prawns. A bit of a hassle to prepare, but so worth it.

We also had dinner in this Japanese place near the apartment that Anj and I discovered a while back. They had really affordable steak that was so good it was almost suspicious.

Laduree's seasonal pink pepper macaron deserves a special mention because it was surprisingly good. I still don't understand how pepper would work in a macaron but it just does.

Last but not least, Au Chocolat's duck confit. It was so good I am surprised the boyfriend was willing to share (I ordered a burger, pfffft). Thank heavens it was my birthday week.

Aaaaand now I'm hungry. End post.
