What I've Been Loving Lately | August 2017

Beauty Blenders

So I've recently been made aware of the wonders of setting foundation with a damp beauty blender, and life has never been the same since. Among other things, I have been taking it with me when I shower (along with the super cute plastic "chair" I bought off Carousell - nifty, right?) just so I have a clean sponge when I do my makeup afterwards. Lately, I've been using Laura Mercier loose powder, and I find that with a damp beauty blender I get the longevity without the texture.

Anastasia Brow Powder

I go in phases as far as my brows are concerned, and for the last couple of months the "look" has been untamed brows shaped into a semblance of a form using powder. I think I'm still reeling from seeing one too many ombré brows last year. So I try not to go too detailed (hence the ginormous Hakuhodo J524 brush) and just kind of do one swoop with the darker color, and fill in whatever spaces I've missed with the lighter one. It takes all of thirty seconds, and 90% of the time I'm happy (bad brow hair days - it's a thing).

J.Crew Signet Bag

I am, by default, a big bag lady, but sometimes when I'm out and about I do not want to be burdened by the extra bulk and weight (read: this is my way of saying I'm getting old and the back and the shoulders are starting to hurt). This has pretty much been my weekend bag ever since I got it a couple of months ago, and it has held up pretty well. I did have to ask my cobbler to punch a couple more holes on strap because it was too long, and I removed the contrasting key fob thing, but other than that I'm very, very happy. It fits all my essentials, it's light without compromising the structure, and the leather is of good quality (as far as I can tell anyway). Oh, and I got it on sale (J.Crew is always on sale - like right now).
